|Team Effectiveness Workshop
March 28th (10 am – 5 pm) & March 29th (9 am – 4pm)
Glynwood, Cold Spring, NY
Offered in partnership with NYS Agricultural Mediation Program, with support from the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program at USDA-NIFA
(Award No. 2017-70017-27153)
This workshop draws upon recent research on what makes successful and productive teams, while integrating Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a way of thinking and speaking that is particularly effective in reducing stress and conflict, creating connection, and improving collaboration.
Farmers will have the opportunity to learn the skills that foster successful collaboration. Participants will learn about the Fight-Flight-Freeze stress response, as well as a vocabulary for naming needs and feelings, and learn to use the Self-Connection Process as a foundation to help return to presence and choice in situations when one experiences the stress response. Participants will practice communication skills to effectively prepare for difficult conversations, making requests, interrupting effectively, giving and receiving meaningful and productive feedback, listening to others and being heard, expressing appreciation, and debriefing for resilience.
These skills make it more likely that teams will thrive in an environment that encourages individual risk taking, where members listen to each other’s ideas, no matter the perceived differences in power within the team. This workshop offers the building blocks needed to lead a collaborative team.
This is a two day workshop that includes meals. The workshop is limited to 20 participants; registration will be first come first served.
Cost: $160 per participant. Overnight accommodations are also included if requested, at no additional charge.
